Candle Cozy Free Crochet Pattern

These candle cozies are perfect for setting some peaceful winter ambiance. I love the designs they make as the light peeks through the crochet lace! These are sized to fit a standard mason jar or a candle up to 4″ in diameter, but they are easy to adjust for different sizes. Cream crochet lace candle cozy on a mason jar - free crochet pattern with written instructions and video tutorial

I came up with this pattern on a total whim. It was another one of those “go with the flow” type of patterns. I wanted it to be easy and quick, and I think they came out so fun! You can also purchase a printable PDF copy of the pattern from Etsy or Ravelry.

Supplies

Stitch Abbreviations

  • ch chain
  • st(s) stitch(es)
  • sp space
  • sk skip
  • ss slip stitch
  • sc single crochet
  • dc double crochet
  • dec double crochet 2 together

Pattern Notes

The smaller cozy fits a jar approximately 3″ in diameter, while the larger cozy fits a jar approximately 4″ in diameter. Both sample cozies measure approximately 4.75″ tall. I recommend trying your cozy on your intended jar after working the first three rows, as they are somewhat stretchy, so unstretched gauge may be unreliable. 10 stitches is approximately 2″ on the jar.

To modify the size of the cozies, adjust your starting chain in multiples of 6 stitches. Every 6 stitches will be approximately 1″ of jar diameter. See below for video tutorial.
