Stella Scarf Crochet Pattern

The Stella Scarf features the star stitch in long stripes running the length of the scarf. Made with super soft baby alpaca, it’s a feminine scarf with a slight halo. For those new to the star stitch, there is a video tutorial to walk you step by step through the stitch. If you’re interested in a set, you can also check out the matching Stella Hat (large size available free on the blog!) and Stella Fingerless Gloves.

Stella Scarf Crochet Pattern using star stitch - soft, feminine crochet scarf pattern

About the Stella Scarf

The Stella Scarf features gentle stripes of star stitch and half double crochet. Make this scarf in a super soft baby alpaca yarn with a little bit of halo for a gentle, feminine look, like I did, or pick a yarn with great stitch definition to really make the star stitches pop! You can purchase this pattern on Ravelry and Etsy, or it is available as a set as well at a discounted price (set includes scarf, gloves, and hat) – Etsy set here, also available on Ravelry.

Materials

Sizing

As written, the finished scarf measures approximately 6″ wide and 5’8″ long, excluding the optional (but, in my opinion, awesome) fringe. However, this pattern is easy to modify for different widths or lengths.

Star Stitch Video Tutorial

If you’re new to the star stitch, I’ve got a great video tutorial that will teach you how to make this super pretty stitch! I also have a tutorial showing how to do foundation crochet stitches, which are recommended (but not required) for the starting row of this pattern.

This pattern is great for people new to star stitch, as it uses a simple four-row repeat to create the stunning yet subtle striped pattern. You can also get coordinated with the matching Stella Hat – the hat pattern is free on the blog for size large, or you can purchase the PDF for additional size options. Stay tuned for more in this set – I’m thinking fingerless gloves and a cardigan!

I’m a big fan of fringe, and that star stitch is totally drool-worthy (in my totally biased opinion)
